Shiran Acharya
I majored in pharmacy at Northeastern University, graduating with my PharmD degree from the Bouvé College of Health Sciences in 2014. I had the opportunity to work in Dr. Thakur’s lab as a research intern during one of my co-op periods from August 2011 – December 2011. This was my first experience in a true laboratory setting, and it was invaluable in teaching me lab-related technical skills as well as allowing me to learn how a university research lab is run. I was taught how to use a wide variety of technical instruments, and was able to participate in the preparation and execution of many different chemical reactions. Dr. Thakur was very engaging and always willing to help me learn, and the same can be said of my two other lab mentors – Abhijit and Pushkar. I feel very grateful to have been provided with the opportunity to work in this lab, and will not forget my experience any time soon.
